Back on track

Ok, I didn't mean to make you worry. I guess the best explanation is that we simply lost sight of our goal. After some tears, some heartburn, some sleepless nights and passionate telephone conversations, we are back on track. We decided we don't want to register in another region, because we now have clarification that doing that wouldn't mean bringing home two children. It would become a "horse race" of which child would come home first- Pskov v. Volograd. That means that unless we were able to come up with several thousand dollars to complete a second adoption, if we accepted another referral we would loose Charlie, and likewise, if Pskov opens up again we would have another little face that we longed for everyday and night. And we aren't in the betting business. Our priority is Charlie and until that door is slammed in our face we will not consider moving on. We will continue to hold fast.
So, today I redid our home study update documents, petitioning for a three year old, for our soon to be three year old. And once again, we wait for the tide to change.

  1. For sure that is the best plan. I guess I'm stubborn and just have to believe that with determination and perserverance your dreams will come true and Charlie will be your son....IS your son! I was never willing to give up on Anna and thankfully never had to and 13 months after meeting her we got to break her out of that baby home. I pray it is the same for you all. My heart hurts so bad for you. I know what a difficult time this is.

  2. I'm so glad. . .I know how hard that has got to be. Actually, I don't really know, but I can definitely imagine. I fell in love with our son before I even saw his picture! You all are in our prayers that everything will turn around in your favor in January. It will be a new year and the slate, so to speak, will be wiped clean.

    God Bless!

  3. You guys are in my prayers--I can't even imagine how hard this is for you. I know that the time between our first meeting and our court date was pretty much unbearable--and it was only about 10-11 weeks. It seemed like a huge wait at the time, so please know that you don't have to apologize for the way that you're feeling right now.

    You're in my heart

  4. Your doing the right thing by sticking to getting Charlie home. My heart goes out to you guys, we met our daughter for the first time the day after you met Charlie. 3/23/10 different region and we have been home now for 4 months. I pray for you guys to get your court date so you can become a family.

  5. God is pretty amazing- bringing home two....hmmm...I bet Charlie would love a brother or sister. Let's start fundraising! And please don't EVER apologize for how you are feeling. The average gestational period is nine months (ok, really 10) and even a horrible labor is over in 36 hours. You've been 'gestating' and 'laboring' for 21 months!! If anyone is allowed to vent-its you!!

  6. Catching up on blogs and say these posts from the last few days. Such anxiety that you are receiving from your agency. :( congrats on staying true to convictions in the face of adversity. If it is any consolation, Volgograd on average isn't a fast moving region. When I learned it was one of 2 regions I was urged to adopt in (my first one is VERY slow), I searched and only found one family who has adopted from there in the last 2 years! Recently, another family has said to have a really fast experience but I don't know the specific circumstances. Myself & a couple with the same agency were told 12+ months to referral. Being more specific, I was told 18 months is more on target. Being the case, if that is in anyway accurate, it would be a coin toss on your situation if your agency says they are stopping work next December. Hang in there!

  7. I'm glad you've found peace in your decision. And, for Charlie's sake, I'm so glad you decided to persevere and continue to work to bring HIM home! He is yours. He'll be home soon. And three is still so little. ;>

  8. Ok WOW! I just caught up on your last few posts. I think we both use the same agency, CWA, right? Holy crap they are stopping adoptions in 2011?!??!?!? WHOA!

I have two sweeties from Volgograd, it is a great region, but if I were in your shoes I would 110% do the same thing.

I am shocked! Did they say why there were stopping adoptions?!
